With today's last West Valley League match for the boys volleyball spring season, the El Camino Real boys volleyball team has left their mark on history for another year. Both the Varsity and JV team finished a successful season and shows a bright future to come.
The JV team finished 9-1 and shares the League Championship title with Granada Hills JV. The Varsity team has gone undefeated (10-0) in the West Valley League for the second year in a row. They are named the West Valley League Champions for 2017. ECR has secured their position as the 2nd seed for the CIFLACS Division 1 playoff bracket, behind powerhouse Palisades High School and is looking to have a repeat showdown in the Championships on May 20. The ECR boys Varsity volleyball team traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada during Spring Break to participate in the 42nd Annual Las Vegas Easter Men's Volleyball Invitational hosted by Canyon Springs High School. On Day 1 of the tournament, the team went undefeated against The Palmdale Aerospace Academy, Cheyenne, Rancho, and Francis Parker.
On Day 2, ECR finished 3rd in their pool defeating Nevada Union (2-0) and falling to Buchanan and Roseville (1-2). ECR then advanced to the Bronze division of the tournament to face Shadow Ridge in the semi-finals. After sweeping Shadow Ridge (2-0) the team faced Coronado (NV) in the finals of the the Bronze Division. ECR defeated Coronado (2-0) 26-24, 25-21. Captain and Senior Setter John McNally was named an All-Tournament Player for the 2017 Las Vegas Easter Invitational. |
